Katie Covey, MS, CCC/SLP

Katie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Psychology- Child Professional Services from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas. 

She is a certified DIRFloortime® practitioner (DIR-Basic) through the International Council for Development and Learning (ICDL). 

 

Katie has pediatric experience from university clinics, public schools, and private practice settings. Her experience includes evaluation and treatment of articulation, phonology, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), early and school aged language, social-pragmatics, and sensory feeding disorders. She is experienced in supporting communication with the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) using LAMP-Words For Life  and other communication systems. She takes special interest in early intervention for children with neurodevelopmental differences, specifically in facilitating individualized and relationship-based treatment to foster successful communication and connection. 

 

Katie believes in family centered intervention, focused on each child’s unique needs. She strives to equip families with the tools they need to help their children establish effective and authentic communication skills.

 

Katie grew up in Grapevine, and currently lives in Roanoke with her Goldendoodle, Maggie. She enjoys cheering on the Aggies during football season and volunteering at her church.
